ROBERT BARKER DESIGN
Robert Barker is a talented Garden Designer whose business was founded on a passion for plants and nature. Robert undertook formal horticultural study which led to training at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.
In addition to providing Garden Design in Cambridge and surrounding regions, Robert writes a monthly column entitled ‘Down to Earth’ for the Cambridgeshire award winning Velvet Magazine.
2016 saw Robert awarded a Gold Medal for his first show garden at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The garden entitled The Red Thread won international acclaim. At the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2018, he was also awarded the Silver Gilt Medal for his show garden, Skin Deep. Robert and his team have been featured on the BBC, Telegraph, Guardian, Daily Mail, and Harper’s Bazaar.
When it came to digital marketing Robert had a familiar story. His website was pretty much home grown and whilst he found himself coming up in search results for garden designers in Cambridge, he did not feature in nearby regions including Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk - all regions in the general East of England region where Robert and his team provide services for both domestic and commercial clients.
The Lilac team set about optimising his current platform, setting up regional pages targeted at garden design terms in those geographic areas. Additionally, of course it is important that all search results are optimised for his well earned RHS awards. This ensures that any prospective clients instantly see the team’s credentials.
It is very early days but the website is seeing an improvement in Cambridge terms and new first and second page rankings for Norfolk and Suffolk related terms.
